Revenue seizes cigarettes at Dublin Airport
Revenue officers at Dublin Airport seized 28,000 cigarettes with a retail value of €14,700* when a 35 year old Moldovan male arrived on a flight from Moldova via Frankfurt last Saturday (19/12/15).The 'Marlboro Gold' cigarettes were packed into two suitcases and the man was arrested and brought before Judge John Coughlan in the Criminal Courts of Justice charged with the illegal importation of cigarettes.
He was remanded in custody to appear at the District Court, Cloverhill today (23/12/2015) where Judge Conal Gibbons further remanded him in custody at Clover Hill until Wednesday 06/01/2015.
These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes and tobacco.
