Revenue seizes herbal cannabis worth €240,000

On Friday (08/04/16), Revenue seized 7 kg of herbal cannabis with an approximate value of €140,000 in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary. As part of an intelligence-lead, joint operation involving Revenue, the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, and the Roscrea Divisional Drugs Unit, a package, which had originated in Spain, was intercepted at an address in Roscrea.

Three Lithuanian men, aged between 19 and 24, were arrested at the scene by Gardaí and have been detained at Roscrea Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

In a follow-up search, a further 5 kg of herbal cannabis was uncovered, bringing the total value of the seized product to €240,000.

Investigations are on-going with a view to prosecution.
