Revenue officers seize beer and trucks at Dublin Port
Yesterday (12/07/2016), Revenue Officers seized 65,772 litres of beer and three articulated trucks at Dublin Port.
The beer was discovered and detained when, following routine profiling, officers stopped and searched three German registered trucks as they disembarked a ferry from Zeebrugge last Saturday (09/07/2016). Further enquiries confirmed that the alcohol was undeclared.
The seized beer is valued at €193,150 and represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of €134,175.
Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal alcohol in the shadow economy.
