Revenue seizes drugs worth €286,000 in countrywide joint operations with drugs and organised crime bureau

This week, in a series intelligence-led of joint operations, involving Revenue’s Customs Service and the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, drugs with an estimated value of €286,000 have been seized:

  • Yesterday (14/07/2016) a house in the Cahir, Co Tipperary area was searched. Revenue seized approximately 10,000 Ecstasy tablets, with an estimated value of about €140,000. A male aged 36 was arrested by Gardaí and is detained at Clonmel Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. Investigations are ongoing.
  • In a second operation yesterday (14/07/20160 a house in the Mitchelstown, Co Cork area was searched. Revenue seized approximately 10,000 Ecstasy tablets, with an estimated value of about €140,000. A female aged 19 was arrested by Gardaí and is detained at Fermoy Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. Investigations are ongoing.
  • Earlier, on Wednesday (13/07/2016), a house in the Ballyshannon area Co. Donegal was searched. A quantity of controlled drugs, 3,000 Diazepam with a value of about €6,000 was seized. A male aged 20 was arrested by Gardaí and detained at Ballyshannon Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended. Investigations are ongoing.
