Revenue seizes cigarettes worth €33,000 and an SUV in Rosslare
Today (21/09/16), at Rosslare Europort, Revenue Officers seized 64,100 cigarettes and the vehicle in which they were transported. Following routine profiling, the Irish registered Volvo SUV was stopped and searched as it disembarked a ferry from France. The cigarettes, branded "Kent", were found concealed in the floor area of the vehicle and have a retail value of €33,600, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of approximately €26,800.
A Romanian man and woman, both in their 20s, were arrested at the scene. A file is being prepared for the DPP.
