Revenue seizes 600,000 cigarettes at Dublin Port

Today, (25/11/2016), at Dublin Port, and as part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes in the shadow economy, Revenue officers seized 600,000 'L & M' cigarettes with a retail value of almost €304,000 and representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €261,000. The cigarettes originated in Poland, and were described as "cleaning products" when they were shipped into Dublin Port via Rotterdam.

Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
