Revenue seizes over 61,000 cigarettes in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary

On Tuesday (22/11/2016), in an intelligence led operation, Revenue officers carried out a search under warrant of a house in Clonmel, Co Tipperary, and seized over 61,000 cigarettes.

The seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illicit cigarettes in the shadow economy.

The cigarettes branded, 'Viceroy', 'L&M Blue', 'Nevada' and 'Winston', have a retail value in excess of €31,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €26,600.

A Polish man in his forties was questioned and a file is being prepared with a view to prosecution.
