Revenue seizes 400,000 cigarettes in Dublin Port

Yesterday (27/06/2016), Revenue officers seized 400,000 cigarettes at Dublin Port. The cigarettes were concealed within pallets of paving bricks and were discovered when, as a result of routine profiling, a 20 foot container that had arrived into Dublin Port from Armenia was selected for scanning.

The cigarettes branded "L&M Soft Plus" have a retail value of € 212,698, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €167,876. These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes in the shadow economy.

Investigations are ongoing.
