Revenue seizes cigarettes and alcohol worth €8,700 in Dublin Port
On Saturday (27/08/16), as a result of routine profiling, Revenue officers seized 445 litres of alcohol and 2,680 cigarettes at Dublin Port. The contraband was discovered following the search a van which had disembarked a ferry from Holyhead and was driven by an Irish resident, Romanian national.
The estimated combined retail value of the undeclared goods is €8,700, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €5,100.
This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illicit alcohol and tobacco in the shadow economy. The majority of people pay the right amount of tax and duty.
