Revenue and Gardaí seize herbal cannabis worth €730,000 at Dublin Port
As part of ongoing intelligence led joint investigations targeting organised criminal activity being conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, the Serious Crime Task Force and Revenue’s Customs Service, herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €730,000 was seized at Dublin Port last Friday (30/06/2017).
Revenue’s new mobile x-ray scanner was deployed in the search of a haulage vehicle that had arrived into Ireland containing farm machinery, and the cannabis was discovered concealed within the farm machinery.
Follow-up searches were subsequently conducted in the Moneygall area of Tipperary and today (05/07/2017), Gardaí arrested a male aged 52 on suspicion of drug trafficking, who is currently detained at Nenagh Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice ( Drug Trafficking ) Act 1996.
