Revenue seizes contraband tobacco products worth €5,700

Today (28/04/2017) as part of an intelligence led operation focusing on  the illicit tobacco trade in Moore Street in Dublin's City Centre, Revenue officers searched a house in the Dublin 7 area under Court warrant, and seized 3,760 cigarettes and 7.85kg of tobacco.

The cigarettes are branded 'Gold Classic', '821' and 'Dorchester' and the tobacco is branded 'Flandria' and 'Samson'. The total retail value of the contraband tobacco products is over €5,700, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €4,600.

An Irish woman in her 20's was questioned and investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
