What is Remote Betting Duty?
Remote Betting Duty is an excise duty charged on all bets placed by a person in the State with a Licensed Bookmaker by remote means.
Remote means refers to any means by which a person can communicate and transact with a person in another physical location, including but not limited to:
- the internet
- telephones
- or
- asset transfers (e.g. money, cryptocurrency, or other asset transfer)
Bets taken over the counter are subject to Betting Duty.
