Revenue seize alcohol worth €6,000 at Dublin Port

Revenue officers seized over 540 litres of wine, beer and spirits in separate routine operations in Dublin Port over the weekend and this morning (16/04/2018).

Officers discovered the smuggled alcohol concealed in the loads, when they stopped and searched a van and two trucks that had disembarked ferries from the UK. The three drivers, all men in their thirties and forties, were questioned and the alcohol, with a total value of over €6,000, and representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €3,000, was seized.

These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal alcohol in the shadow economy. If businesses or members of the public have any information regarding the smuggling or sale of illegal alcohol, they can contact Revenue in confidence on our confidential line  1800 295 295.
