Revenue seize over 265,000 litres of alcohol worth over €1.4 million in Dublin Port during October

In a series of operations in Dublin Port throughout the month of October, Revenue officers seized over 265,000 litres of alcohol (36,720 litres wine, 229,449 litres beer) with an estimated retail value of over €1.4 million, and potential loss to the Exchequer of over €735,000.

The alcohol was discovered following the examination of eleven unaccompanied trailers that arrived separately into Dublin Port from the UK and Belgium.

These seizures are part of Revenue's on-going operations targeting the illegal importation, supply and sale of alcohol in the shadow economy. If businesses or members of the public have any information regarding the smuggling or sale of illegal cigarettes or tobacco, they can contact Revenue in confidence on free phone number 1800 295 295.
