Revenue seize alcohol and cigarettes in Dublin: total value of seizures over €200,000
Yesterday (25/10/2021), as a result of routine profiling, Revenue officers seized more than 15,500 litres of various brands of wine following the search of a trailer that had arrived into Dublin Port from France. The smuggled alcohol had an estimated retail value of almost €190,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €101,000.
Separately, as a result of routine operations at Dublin Airport last week, Revenue officers seized over 16,000 cigarettes with an estimated retail value of €11,400, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €9,000.
The smuggled cigarettes branded ‘Marlboro’ and ‘L&B’ were discovered, with the assistance of detector dog Wilson, in the checked baggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight from Krakow, Poland.
