Revenue seize cannabis and cigarettes worth €236,000 at Dublin Airport

On Monday (22/08/2022), as a result of routine operations and with the assistance of detector dog Blue, Revenue officers seized approximately 9.6 kilograms of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €178,000 at Dublin Airport.

The illegal drugs were discovered concealed in an air cargo consignment described as ‘clothes’, that had arrived from the United States and was destined for an address in Dublin.

Separately, on Sunday (21/08/2022), as a result of routine operations and with the assistance of detector dog Maggie, Revenue officers seized 80,000 ‘Lambert & Butler’ cigarettes. The illicit cigarettes were discovered concealed in an air cargo consignment described as ‘car parts’, that had arrived from Spain and was destined for an address in Dublin.

The cigarettes have an estimated retail value of over €58,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €47,000.

Investigations into these seizures are ongoing.
