Revenue seize MDMA and herbal cannabis worth €640,000 in Dublin

Yesterday (05/07/2023), as part of two separate intelligence-led operations, Revenue officers seized 2kgs of MDMA and 26kgs of herbal cannabis with estimated values of €120,000 and €520,000 respectively, in the Dublin region.

These seizures were made as a result of joint operations conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Balbriggan Garda Drugs Unit.

A man in his 20s was arrested by An Garda Síochána in relation to the MDMA seizure. He was subsequently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in North County Dublin. He has since been released and a file has been prepared for the DPP.

A second man in his 30s was arrested by An Garda Síochána in relation to the herbal cannabis seizure and he remains detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in West Dublin.

Investigations are ongoing.

These operations are part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
