Revenue seize contraband worth over €1.76 million in Dublin

Last Friday, 08/12/2023, as a result of risk profiling, and with the assistance of detector dog Milo, Revenue officers examining parcels at a premises in Dublin seized 52 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1,040,000. The illicit drugs were discovered in parcels originating from Spain and were destined for addresses across Dublin.

Separately last Friday, as a result of risk profiling, Revenue officers seized 36 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €720,000 at Dublin Port. The consignment arrived from Barcelona and was destined for an address in County Dublin.

Lastly, on Thursday 07/12/2023, as a result of risk profiling, Revenue officers seized 5,300 cigarettes, 1kg of tobacco and a small quantity of gin at Dublin Port. The contraband has a retail value of over €5,300, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €4,200. The driver was arrested and appeared in court this morning. He pleaded guilty and was fined €3,500 and given 3 months to pay.

Investigations into all of these seizures are ongoing.
