Revenue seize chewing tobacco worth over €500,000 in Co. Meath
Today (21/12/2023), as a result of risk profiling, Revenue officers seized 960kg of chewing tobacco with an estimated value of over €500,000 at a commercial premises in Co. Meath.
The chewing tobacco, branded ‘Gutkha’, originated in the Czech Republic and was destined for an address in Northern Ireland.
Investigations are ongoing.
This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the shadow economy and the sale and supply of illegal tobacco products. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.
