Revenue seize chewing tobacco worth €137,500 at Dublin Port

Last Friday (19/07/2024), as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dog Guss, Revenue officers examining parcels at Dublin Port seized 250 kgs of chewing tobacco with an estimated value of €137,500.

The illicit tobacco had arrived via consignments originating from Belgium which were intended for an address in Dublin.

Investigations are ongoing.

These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting smuggling and the sale and supply of illegal tobacco products. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.
