Revenue seize 1.2 million cigarettes in Waterford

Yesterday, 07/10/2024, as a result of an intelligence-led operation, Revenue officers seized 1.2 million cigarettes with an estimated value of €1,005,000 following the search of an unaccompanied container at Belview Port, Waterford.

The illicit cigarettes, branded ‘L & B’, had arrived into Ireland from Rotterdam and represent a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €603,000.

Investigations are ongoing.
