Mr. Paulius Ratkevicius, with an address at Yas Villas Khalifa, City A, Abu Dhabi pleaded guilty to the following offence under Section 119(2) Finance Act, 2001, as amended:

  • Evasion of a duty of excise on excisable products to wit, 29,400 cigarettes and 3 Kilogrammes of fine cut tobacco for the rolling of cigarettes, with intend to defraud either directly or indirectly the State of such duty.


On 12 April 2019, at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, Judge Greally sentenced Mr. Paulius Ratkevicius to a term of imprisonment of 9 months, such sentence to date from the 25/02/2019 with the final 7 months and 16 days of said sentence suspended on the Accused, in Open Court, acknowledging himself bound to the people of Ireland in the sum of €100.00, the conditions being that he will keep the peace and be of good behaviour towards all the people of Ireland for a period of 10 years from this date and further that he will come up if called on to do so at any time within said period of 10 years to serve the sentence imposed, but suspended on him entering into this recognisance.  Accused having acknowledged himself so bound was discharged.
