Overview

What is Proof of Union Status?

All goods entering the customs territory of the European Union (EU) are deemed to be non-Union goods. The exception is where goods are proven to have EU status.

An economic operator is required to prove the customs status of the goods in the following scenarios:

  • where the presumption of the customs status of goods does not apply (details available in the Transit Trader Guide)
  • when Union goods have been taken out of the customs territory of the EU.
