Revenue seize over 7.6 million cigarettes in Dublin Port

Today, 26/03/2025, as a result of risk profiling, and with the assistance of detector dog Milo, Revenue officers seized over 7,650,000 million cigarettes in Dublin Port.

The illicit cigarettes, branded ‘Omega’, have an estimated value of over €6,900,000, and an estimated loss to the exchequer of almost €5,459,500.

The consignment was seized when Revenue officers searched an unaccompanied container that had disembarked a ship that arrived from Antwerp.  The container originated in the United Arab Emirates.

Investigations are ongoing.

This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes and tobacco in the shadow economy. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.
