Revenue seize contraband worth over €282,000 in Dublin
Over the course of last week (week commencing 15 April 2024), Revenue officers seized contraband worth over €282,000 during the course of numerous operations in Dublin.
Revenue officers examining parcels at a premises in Dublin made the following discoveries, as a result of risk profiling:
- 9.2 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of over €184,000,
- 360 grams of butane honey oil with an estimated value of €7,200, and
- various quantities of other illicit drugs with an estimated value of over €7,300.
The illicit drugs were discovered in parcels originating from the USA, Canada, the UK, Thailand and India and were intended for various addresses nationwide.
A quantity of retail goods, with an estimated value of €37,000, were also seized due to infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.
Separately, on Sunday (21/04/2024), as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dog Toby and An Garda Síochána, Revenue officers seized over 46,200 cigarettes along with over 10 kgs of tobacco in North County Dublin. The illicit cigarettes and tobacco, including brands such as ‘Marlboro’, ‘Mayfair’, ‘Marine’, ‘Blue River’ and ‘Excellence’, have an estimated value of over €47,200, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of almost €36,900.
Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
