Revenue seize contraband worth €185,000 in Dublin and the Midlands

Over the course of the past week (week commencing 4/11/2024), Revenue officers examining parcels at premises in Dublin and the Midlands seized approximately 5.3 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of over €106,400, during the course of numerous operations. Various quantities of other illicit drugs plus 6,200 cigarettes, with a total estimated value of €24,700, were also seized.

The illegal contraband was discovered, as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dogs Sam, Grace and Enzo in parcels that originated in the USA, the UK, Canada, Thailand, India, Malaysia, Austria, France, the Netherlands and Sweden and which were intended for addresses nationwide. Telescopic batons, pepper gel and pepper spray were also detected.

Revenue officers also seized a quantity of retail goods, with an estimated value of €52,700, due to infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.
