Revenue seize herbal cannabis worth €70,000 in east Cork

Yesterday, 14/01/2025, as part of an intelligence-led operation, Revenue officers, with the assistant of detector dog Merlin seized approximately 3.5kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €70,000 in east Cork. 

This seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, detector dog Merlin, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Cork Divisional Drugs Unit.

A man in his 30’s was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained at a Cork Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations involving organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
