Revenue seize herbal cannabis worth over €2.6 million at Dublin Airport

Revenue officers have seized over 131 kgs of herbal cannabis, with a combined estimated value of €2,635,600, in two separate operations in Dublin Airport over recent days.

On Friday, 28 February, as a result of an intelligence led operation, Revenue officers made a seizure of herbal cannabis weighing approximately 116.6 kgs. The cannabis has an estimated value of approximately €2,332,000.

The cannabis was discovered concealed in a freight consignment which originated from the US, declared as solar panels, and was addressed to a property in the South East.

In addition, on Saturday 1 March, as a result of routine profiling, Revenue officers made a seizure of herbal cannabis weighing approximately 15.2 kgs.  The cannabis has an estimated value of €303,600.

The cannabis was discovered concealed in vacuum packed packages within the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight from London.  A male, in his 40s, was arrested by An Garda Síochána has since appeared before the courts.

Investigations are ongoing.
