Revenue seize herbal cannabis worth €862,000 at Dublin Airport

On Sunday 02/06/2024, as a result of risk profiling and during the course of two separate operations, Revenue officers seized 43.1 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €862,000 at Dublin Airport. The illicit drugs were discovered in vacuum-packed packages within the baggage of two passengers who had disembarked separate flights originating from Thailand.

A man in his 30s and a man in his 50s were arrested by An Garda Síochána under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. They have since been charged and both appeared before the courts this morning. Investigations are ongoing.

These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.
