Carrier at exit
The carrier at exit is the person who takes the goods or assumes responsibility for the carriage of the goods out of the European Union (EU).
For maritime traffic under a vessel sharing arrangement the carrier is the person who concludes a contract for the carriage of the goods out of the EU.
The roles and responsibilities of the carrier are as follows:
RoRo
- Ensure you do not remove any goods that remain under customs supervision.
- Post departure, provide the National Intelligence Management System (NIMS) manifest to Revenue.
- Ensure NIMS manifest has details of all Pre-Boarding Notification (PBN) reference numbers matched to the vehicle registration or trailer identification.
Air and LoLo
- Ensure you do not remove any goods that remain under customs supervision.
- Post departure, provide Revenue with confirmation of exit of the goods using the MRN, as follows:
- use the Export Release Verification Service (ERVS) to complete the exit formalities and to satisfy yourself that the goods are not under customs control
- or
- submit the ‘exit notification message’ (IE590) to AES.
