Incorrect or incomplete declarations of cash
A Customs officer may search for, seize and retain, cash being carried or sent, into or out of the European Union. Customs may detain your cash if:
- it has not been declared, or has been incorrectly declared
- or
- the declaration is incomplete.
Failure to make a declaration, or making an incorrect or incomplete declaration, is an offence. Failure to comply may result in criminal prosecution and a fine.
